Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash Yatra
Shrkhand Mahadev Kailash Yatra is a high-altitude pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva, starting from Jaon village in Nirmand area of Himachal Pradesh. The sacred summit is reached through forests, alpine meadows, steep rocky terrain and high-altitude sections, culminating at the naturally formed Shivling/rock formation associated with Lord Shiva.
The summit is reported by authoritative and trekking sources at roughly 5,200–5,227 metres (around 17,150 ft). The Great Himalayan National Park’s official site describes the trek as strenuous, with approximately 100 km on its particular longer route, while the standard Jaon pilgrimage route is generally described as around 32–35 km one way / 65–70 km round trip. Distances therefore vary according to the route and itinerary used.
Important distinction
This is Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash in Himachal Pradesh, not the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet. The latter is an international pilgrimage requiring government/Chinese permissions; Shrikhand is a high-altitude Himalayan trek within Himachal Pradesh.

Important Notes & Fitness Considerations
Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra is a high-altitude and physically demanding pilgrimage. Participants must be medically fit and adequately prepared for strenuous trekking.
The itinerary may change due to weather, trail conditions, government instructions, local administration guidelines or safety considerations. Darshan is subject to route accessibility and local administration guidelines.
Participants should ideally obtain medical clearance before departure, particularly if they have any medical condition or previous problems related to high altitude.
Important altitude precautions:
Walk slowly and maintain a steady pace
Drink sufficient fluids
Avoid alcohol
Do not ignore severe headache, vomiting, confusion, unusual breathlessness or difficulty walking
If significant altitude-sickness symptoms develop, descent is more important than completing darshan
Do not attempt to race to the summit
